Pakistan will begin the new year in New Zealand. The Sarfraz Ahmad-led side will take part in the five One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20Is. The tour begins with ODI series, with the first match on January 06 at Wellington. After the ODI series, which ends on January 19, the teams will lock horns in three-match T20I series, starting January 22.
Pakistan have historically struggled in New Zealand having won only two series. Out of last five ODI series, since 2000/01, Pakistan have managed to win just one series. Overall, in New Zealand against the home team, Pakistan have emerged victorious 15 times out of 44 matches.
No surprises, in game’s shortest format as well Pakistan have struggled in New Zealand. The visitors have lost both the T20I series in New Zealand. Out of six Pakistan have won just two T20Is, losing four.
Pakistan comes into the series with a winning streak of nine matches on their back. The Green Shirts are unbeaten in last nine ODIs which include ICC Champions Trophy final against India followed by whitewash against Sri Lanka.
Pakistan hasn’t played much cricket after the Champions Trophy. They were involved in just one bilateral series against Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, hosts New Zealand will be looking to extend their home dominance after an impressive show against Windies.
