PTI divided over

LAHORE (Web desk) – There is an internal divide within the  PTI  over whether to present resignations in parliament, sources claimed.

It was added that the group of parliamentarians who side with disqualified lawmaker Jahangir Khan Tareen are in favour of resigning from the National Assembly and Senate.

On the other hand, senior PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi is not in favour of presenting resignations in the parliament.

The Tareen group has supported the suggestion to resign from both parliament houses before the Senate elections in order to give tough time to the government. However, Qureshi group opposed the idea.

Sheikh Rasheed resigns, asks others to follow

During the Mall Road protest staged by opposition parties yesterday, PTI aide Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed had announced resignation from his National Assembly seat and suggested Imran Khan to do the same in order to derail the ruling PML-N government.

His resignation has not been received by the National Assembly secretariat yet. Rasheed has not handed over his resignation to the NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq despite announcement.

Imran Khan had supported Rasheed’s opinion, and slammed the existence of such a parliament that passes person-specific laws.

The final decision will be taken by Imran Khan after he returns from his Dubai visit. The PTI chief has himself opined that “laanath” is a mild word to use for parliament as it is liable to protect nation’s interests.
