ISLAMABAD (web desk) – Accountability Court on Thursday has issued bailable arrest warrant for ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif in Azizia Steel Mills and offshore companies references against him.
As per details during the hearing headed by Justice Mohammad Bashir, Nawaz Sharif’s representative submitted three pleas pertaining to exemption from the court or 7 days and to stop trial court proceedings. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor said that Nawaz Sharif is deliberately not appearing in the court, therefore, his arrest warrant should be issued.
While rejecting all pleas, the judge said that former PM is being given last chance to appear in the court on November 3 and if he fails to attend the hearing then non-bailable arrest warrant will be issued against him.
It is to be mentioned here that Nawaz Sharif was indicted in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references regarding Park Lane Apartments, Al Azizia Steel Mills and offshore companies while Maryam Nawaz and her husband Capt (retd) Safdar were indicted in reference regarding Park Lane apartments alone.
Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the Supreme Court in July for not declaring a source of income that he disputes receiving. Pakistan’s top court also ordered a wide-ranging investigation by the National Accountability Bureau and trial of Sharif family members.
